Harvass works with the full range of precious stones with customers particularly
his work with diamonds, emeralds, rubies and sapphires and his creative combination of white and yellow gold.
When sourcing his stones he looks not only for quality but for unusual cuts that lend themselves to imaginative treatments.
"There is no doubt that one can always buy excellent ready-made jewellery," he says,
"but for me the essence
of a truly beautiful piece is the time developing that piece - from initial sketches and design through to
selecting the stones and crafting the final piece."
Taking into account this attention to detail, one might expect Harvass' work to carry a
price that puts it
out of the reach of many customers. Nothing could be further from the truth.
"Many people do not realise that they can have a wonderful piece made specifically
for them and find the cost no more than a quality off-the-peg item bought in a well-known store," he says.
